Adaptation

The ongoing climate change affects the conditions in Finland and the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. The climate has already changed.

The intensity of the change depends on the emissions, which is why mitigating climate change is a priority, but adapting to the changing conditions is also necessary at the same time.

Adaptation to climate change refers to the adaptation of nature and people to climate change by minimising disadvantages and utilising potential benefits. Cities play a special role in this, as the impacts of climate change hit cities particularly hard and a large part of the adaptation measures are within the control of cities.
